St Illtyd's Church, Oxwich, Gower |
|||
The church and in particular the tower was suffering from water penetration. The solution was to remove all the hard cement pointing and re point the walls with a lime mortar with a bagged finish. The walls were then decorated with a long life breathable micro silicate paint. The battlements were partly rebuilt and the stonework repaired or replaced in places. Traces of lime render were found on the tower when the work was being carried out confirming that historically the church had a limewashed finish. AWARDS |
