The old Victorian building has been extensively remodelled to provide modern facilities. The building occupies a tight town centre site and particular care was taken to introduce natural light into the building whenever possible.

The project was carried out for the Diocese of Swansea and Brecon and completed in August 2000 for a cost of £350,000.

The project received Lord Mayor's Design Awards for best building and for accessibility .
